Apartment Interior Photos 1 - Our Cool Kitchen

This is our kitchen! With lots of nice features: homebuild shelves, chalk-board backdoor, super-glossy surfaces in white, dark red and black, brushed steel appliances, nice straightforward aluminium grip and cool glass tiles.
The kitchen was installed four years ago as we moved into our current apartment. It was done on a very low budget by ourselves and with the help we could get from family and friends.
The best feature are the homemade shelves with built in lights. We had my father help us build them in finnish birch plywood. You can see the layers of the plywood on the side of the selves wich gives it a cool look.
Another cool feature is the sea-green glass tiles by Evers. Notice how the electric point fits the 5x5 centimeter grid of the tiles perfectly!
The kitchen cupboards and drawers are all from IKEA – cool if you're on a low budget.
The mirror was made by Hanne several years ago during her stay at Krabbesholm School of Art.
The poster is a typical example of danish modernistic poster style. I think it's from the 1950'ies!
All photos (except the chalk-drawing-photo and the mirror-photo) are by professional photographer Tia Borg Smidt. The photos where made for the magazine Boligmagasinet.
See details on the photos at our flickr-slide and watch out for the next posts with the rest of the photos from our apartment...
